Simpson Release Mugshot Sources
No official Simpson County released-person photo gallery was located. The jail site's Current Inmate List is described for current detainees, and stable documentation did not establish whether the dynamic portal displays a photograph. It also does not publish post-release retention or an archive. A name or image vanishing from that current source cannot prove release.
| Channel | Photo status | How to access |
|---|---|---|
| Simpson current portal | Photo behavior unverified; no release archive | Use only as a current-custody check |
| Jailer record request | Request the specific booking image | Ask with booking and release records |
| Sheriff records | May hold sheriff-created police media | Use the sheriff form for sheriff records only |
| KOOL | Can show a state-offender photo indicator/image | Search a DOC-managed person |
| News or KSP release | May contain an agency-supplied image | Treat as event context, not release proof |
| Commercial archives | May be stale or misidentified | Do not treat as an official record |
The official current portal shows the system that should not be mistaken for a mugshot archive.

The portal capture supports its current-custody role, not a claim about photos or releases after a person leaves.
Request Simpson Booking Photos
The separately elected Simpson County Jailer is the best county-source start for a booking photograph tied to confinement at Simpson County Detention Center. Describe the existing record instead of asking staff to research a broad question. Include enough identity to avoid a false match, such as full name, date of birth or booking number, and an approximate confinement range.
- Contact the detention center at info@simpsoncojail.org or 270-586-5351.
- Ask for “the booking photograph associated with this confinement.”
- Also request booking and release date/time, release type or destination, and booking identifier.
- Request electronic copies and reasonably segregable nonexempt portions.
- If material is withheld, ask for the cited legal basis and explanation.
The jail lists 217 E. Kentucky Ave., Franklin, KY 42134, while county material says East Kentucky Street. Confirm the street wording before travel. The photograph should be paired with the release or movement record because the image alone shows a booking, not whether the person bonded out, served time, transferred, escaped, or remained in another custody.
Simpson Sheriff Photo Records
The Simpson County Sheriff's Office has a records form for sheriff-created police reports and media. That route may fit an investigation photo or other sheriff-held image. It does not establish that the sheriff is custodian of a jailer-created booking photograph. The jailer and sheriff are distinct offices, so route the request by the record's creator.
The official sheriff records page displays the form and published media fees.

This form supports requests for sheriff records while preserving the custody caveat for detention-center booking photos.
The sheriff publishes $15 for each photo, audio, or video disc, $15 for a USB device, $5 for a complete police report, and $0.10 for miscellaneous pages, plus varying postage. Those figures belong to sheriff records. They should not be applied to the jailer, court, or Kentucky DOC. Ask the actual custodian for its current format and lawful cost.
Simpson DOC Offender Photos
KOOL can show a photo indicator in search results and an offender image on a detail record. This route applies to Kentucky DOC offenders, including some state prisoners housed in county jails and people later under DOC supervision. It does not cover every local arrest. Search by exact name or DOC/PID identifier, then confirm status, location, conviction details, and identifiers before associating the image with a person.
A DOC photo may come from a different correctional stage than the county booking image. It still does not show that release occurred. A community Probation and Parole location may support physical prison release with ongoing supervision, while an institution location suggests custody. A future date is only predictive. Use DOC release data or VINE to confirm the custody change, and use the Simpson jail transaction for a local release.
Photo and status are separate: an accurate booking or offender image cannot establish current custody, release type, or final discharge.
Note: Match the person with identifiers, not facial resemblance or a similar name alone.
Simpson Mugshot Access Law
Kentucky's Open Records Act appears at KRS 61.870 through 61.884. KRS 61.872 addresses access and agency procedure, KRS 61.874 addresses formats and fees, KRS 61.878 sets exemptions, and KRS 61.880 governs responses. A custodian may need to assess privacy, confidentiality under other law, law-enforcement harm, juvenile material, medical content, sealed or expunged matter, and security details.
Do not describe all mugshots as categorically public. Request the identified booking photograph and allow the custodian to apply current law. When exempt and nonexempt content can reasonably be separated, the request can seek the remaining portion. Under KRS 61.880, an agency ordinarily provides a written response within five business days, but that is a response period, not a promise that every image will arrive by then.
Simpson Expunged Photo Records
Expungement can change public access to an official court or agency record. Kentucky uses separate certification and petition steps, with filing in the county where the original charge arose. KRS 431.076 concerns qualifying acquittal or dismissal situations, KRS 431.073 addresses specified conviction expungement, and KRS 431.079 addresses effects and processing. Eligibility and waiting periods depend on the offense and outcome.
A record's absence after sealing or expungement does not prove that no booking or custody event ever existed. Nor does an order guarantee that every independent copy vanished at once. No Kentucky-specific anti-pay-to-remove or special mugshot-publication law was verified in the source review. That finding should remain narrow: no such law was confirmed, rather than a claim that one cannot exist.
Commercial sites may retain stale, mislabeled, or context-free images. They are not proof of release and receive no endorsement or direct link here. Paying a private publisher does not alter the official jail, court, or DOC record. Requests to correct an official record should go to the office that maintains it.
Simpson News Mugshot Context
WBKO has covered the Simpson jail and its SCORE program, while Kentucky State Police publishes incident reports that can include an agency image. Such material can help identify an event or locate the public agency involved. It remains secondary evidence. Pair a news image with a current custody source, release transaction, and court outcome when those facts matter.
The 2025 KSP Simpson escape report gives a sharp local warning. An escape is an unauthorized departure, not a release. A photo attached to that story documents the incident context and cannot be reused as evidence that the person was lawfully discharged. Likewise, SCORE coverage describes a program but does not establish that a participant received credit or left custody.
Local reporting should not outrank the jailer for a booking and release transaction, KOOL for a DOC status, VINE for an agency-reported custody event, or the court for the legal disposition. Date and context matter because an old arrest image can remain online long after custody and case status have changed.
Verify Simpson Mugshot Release
Start with the image's creator and date. Next, confirm the person's identity with a booking number, DOC/PID, date of birth, or case number. Then identify which agency last had physical custody. The official Simpson current list can show current local custody, but absence is ambiguous. A jail release transaction provides the best county evidence of the physical exit and whether it was community release or transfer.
For a DOC-managed person, read KOOL's present status and location and consult Kentucky Daily Releases or VINE as appropriate. For a federal case, a BOP past Release Date and no facility apply only to BOP custody. An ICE or USMS transfer remains a transfer. The image itself cannot resolve those boundaries.
The Simpson 24-hour release-record fallback explains how to request a defined time window when no public recent-release feed exists. A named-person inquiry can instead request the booking photograph with the exact release fields. This keeps the photo tied to its proper record and avoids turning an arrest-era image into a false claim about present status.
