ICE Transfers From Simpson

A Simpson County release record that names ICE, immigration authorities, or a detainer pickup documents departure from county custody. It does not document freedom. The receiving federal authority may continue civil immigration detention at a site outside Simpson County.

4. If no match appears, repeat with verified spelling and transliteration.
5. Use official ICE follow-up, the immigration case, and the Simpson movement record to resolve the gap.

A no-match has many possible causes. Processing lag, spelling, transliteration, transfer, release, removal, an excluded population, or different custody can all produce it. It is not affirmative release evidence.

ICE Locator and Follow-Up

Do not merge these records. A federal criminal case does not by itself prove ICE custody, and an ICE transfer does not prove criminal imprisonment.

When ICE Shows No Result

Start with identity. Check the A-number, country of birth, name order, hyphenation, and alternate transliterations. Save the exact query and time. A recent county transfer may not appear immediately.

Next, return to the last confirmed custodian. Request Simpson's movement transaction and receiving agency. If the record merely notes a detainer, ask whether an actual pickup occurred. A detainer is a hold or request; it is not itself proof that custody changed.

Use ICE's official Enforcement and Removal Operations follow-up route when the locator cannot resolve a known transfer. Court records may clarify proceedings, but the locator's silence should remain labeled unresolved until stronger evidence appears.

Does “not found” mean released? No. It is only a negative result from a current-oriented system and can have several causes.

Leaving ICE detention can lead to community release under conditions, transfer, removal from the United States, or another legal outcome. Those are not synonyms. Record the agency's precise language and date.

A request or hold that can affect release from another custodian.

A person can be released by Simpson County yet remain confined by ICE. Conversely, a later absence from ODLS cannot establish which ICE outcome occurred.

Request Simpson Transfer Records

Verify ICE Release Evidence

A sound custody timeline uses the strongest source for each stage. The Simpson jail ledger documents the county exit. ICE sources address immigration custody. A court order supplies legal authority where applicable. None should be stretched beyond its system.

If a family member saw a person disappear from the county roster, record the check time but do not infer destination. If the jail confirms an ICE pickup, label it as continuing custody. If ODLS later returns no match, state that the result was unresolved rather than declaring release.

This careful wording prevents a common error: converting “released from the county jail” into “released from all custody.” Confirm the later event before changing that conclusion.

Check Immigration Court Context

Immigration custody and immigration court proceedings are related but not identical. A hearing entry, filing, or ruling may explain legal process without proving where the person was held on a given night. Keep court action separate from detention location and physical release.

If Simpson's record confirms an ICE pickup, preserve that transfer as the starting fact. Use the A-number consistently. When a court source and locator appear to conflict, compare their dates and ask ICE about the custody stage rather than assuming immediate movement.

A conditional community release can leave reporting or case duties in place. That is not final resolution. Removal is also not community release in Simpson County. Use the precise agency outcome.

Build an ICE Custody Timeline
