Kentucky DOC Simpson Role
The Kentucky Department of Corrections is a custody and records system, not a physical Simpson County prison. Simpson County Detention Center may hold local pretrial or sentenced people and state-sentenced prisoners. A state felon can remain in a county jail as a DOC-managed prisoner. Leaving the Simpson roster might therefore mean transfer to a prison, movement to another placement, or release under DOC supervision. Only the matching record can resolve the event.
Three questions keep the search accurate. Which agency last held physical custody? Did the person return to the community or move to another custodian? Does parole, probation, mandatory reentry, or another legal restraint continue? “Released from Simpson County Jail,” “released from state imprisonment,” and “finally discharged” describe separate points.

Search Simpson DOC Offenders
Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, or KOOL, is the main public search. It accepts names, aliases, DOC/PID identifiers, offender type, supervision status, location type, location, county of supervision, conviction county, offense, and date ranges. Its exact predictive field is Projected Release Date From and To. Start with a unique identity, then read status and location before any date.

- Read current status and current location first.
- Review Expected TTS, expiration, eligibility, and proposed dates separately.
- Inspect parole history and any absconded warning.
- Call Offender Information Services when the labels remain unclear.
A prison or institution location suggests continued confinement. A Probation and Parole district or other community location can show physical prison release with ongoing supervision. KOOL does not become a release log for every person booked at Simpson County Detention Center. An ordinary bond-out, dismissal, or county misdemeanor may never appear.

Simpson DOC Release Dates
KOOL uses several date labels. Expected Time To Serve is an anticipated service measure. Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date is also labeled Good Time Release Date and can change with lawful credits. Parole Eligibility Date permits review but does not promise release. Proposed Release Date can follow a parole recommendation, while Maximum Expiration is an outer endpoint in the sentence's legal context.
KRS 197.045 governs sentence-credit categories, restrictions, forfeiture, and restoration. Consecutive and concurrent sentences, jail credit, detainers, revocation, later orders, and DOC calculation can alter a displayed date. KRS 439.3401 imposes minimum service for defined violent-offender cases under the version applicable to the offense. It is not a universal 85 percent calculator. Kentucky regulation 501 KAR 1:030 also varies parole eligibility by offense and date.
A future date is predictive: confirm the later status, location, and release event before saying the person left DOC custody.

Simpson DOC Daily Releases
Kentucky DOC's Daily Releases archive provides dated PDF records. Available columns can include DOC number, name, type of release, release location, and correctional classifications. County-jail placements may appear because Kentucky houses some state prisoners in local jails.
A row showing Simpson County Jail is evidence of a DOC-managed release from that placement. It is not a list of every person who left the jail that day. Local bonds, dismissals, short county sentences, transfers outside DOC, and other exits can be absent. Search the likely date and location, then verify the identity and present status in KOOL.
When timing matters, preserve the PDF and retrieval date. Compare it with the Simpson jail movement record and VINE event. A court order can explain the authority for movement but not necessarily the precise physical exit. If the event is a transfer, request the receiving agency or destination to the extent maintained and disclosable.

A VINE release event means release from that reporting agency. It does not rule out another hold or pickup. A transfer event expressly means custody moved. Register for available phone or email alerts through the live interface, create the requested PIN for automated calls, and complete any email confirmation. Labels can change, so retain the registration details.
The statewide automated access number is 800-511-1670. Simpson's jail page separately publishes 800-865-4314, so verify which service is intended rather than silently treating the two as one number. VINE is strong corroboration but is not a complete historical DOC release ledger.
Simpson DOC Supervision Office

Use the satellite after KOOL identifies a public supervision status or District 2 location that needs explanation. Probation is generally a court-ordered community sentence. Parole is release from imprisonment under conditions. Mandatory reentry is a separate statutory release route. An absconded flag signals a supervision or location-compliance problem, not current jail custody.

Hearing eligibility, a scheduled Board hearing, a recommendation, and actual release are also separate. Verify physical movement afterward through KOOL, DOC release records, VINE, and the appropriate office.
Request Simpson DOC Records
When the public result is ambiguous, ask Kentucky DOC for the existing offender or release record. Public-record inquiries use 502-782-2229; inmate-record inquiries use 502-782-2370; Offender Information Services uses 502-564-2433. Identify the person with a DOC/PID number and date range when possible. Ask for the release type, date, location, destination, current public status, and sentence-date labels relevant to the question.
Kentucky's Open Records Act appears in KRS 61.870 through 61.884. KRS 61.880 ordinarily calls for a written response within five business days, but that response may grant, deny with a legal basis, or explain why a record is unavailable and give a later access date. It is not a universal delivery deadline. Ask for electronic copies and reasonably segregable nonexempt portions.
For a final Board action, the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet open-records route can provide a written decision. A parole calendar or eligibility list is not release proof. Preserve the request, delivery proof, response, attachments, and any cited exemption so later status changes remain understandable.
Confirm Simpson DOC Release
The strongest public package for release from Kentucky imprisonment combines a DOC release record or Daily Releases entry, KOOL's later status and location, and a consistent VINE event. When supervision follows, District 2 can clarify public community-status information. A community location proves neither final discharge nor the absence of another case.
If the person only disappeared from Simpson's current roster, first obtain the jail transaction. That record can show whether the event was release into the community, transfer to DOC, movement to another county, or another disposition. A transfer into Kentucky DOC custody is continued custody even though the person is gone from the local list.
No Kentucky state prison was verified within Simpson County. The active local adult facility is Simpson County Detention Center. Kentucky DOC belongs in the county's records map because it may hold legal custody, place state prisoners in county jails, record statewide releases, and supervise people after imprisonment.
